Everything you need to know about Voleyroll tournaments.
Performance Categories
Oro is the highest performance level in the Voleyroll tournament series. It is designed for players with competitive experience looking for the greatest challenge. Teams are stronger on average and the ranking points available are higher.
Plata is the intermediate performance level. Ideal for advanced players who have moved beyond beginner status but aren't yet competing at the highest level. It offers a good balance between competition and enjoyment.
Bronce is the entry-level category. Designed for beginners and recreational players. Slightly simplified rules apply: setting the ball overhead to the opponent's side is prohibited; however, receiving the first ball with an overhead set is allowed.
Tournament Formats
In Pool Play, all teams in a group play against each other (round robin). At the end of the group stage, teams are ranked by wins and point difference. The top teams advance to the next phase. All participants are guaranteed at least three matches.
In the K.O. system, a team is eliminated after losing a match. Many tournaments use 'Double Out' (double elimination): a team is only eliminated after their second defeat, giving them a second chance.
In the Swiss System, teams with similar standings are paired against each other in each round. After each round, rankings are updated and new matchups are formed. This guarantees balanced games and an equal number of matches for all.
A competition format where multiple teams play simultaneously on one court. The team on the 'throne' (court) defends their position; the losing team makes way for the next one. Points are awarded per rally won. A fast and highly dynamic format.
Registration & Process
Create your Voleyroll account, search for your partner, and complete registration on the tournament page. Registration stays open until the listed deadline. After that, you can join the waitlist if spots become available.
The Technical Meeting takes place 15 minutes before the tournament starts. All participants must check in at that point. Teams that are not present may be replaced by waitlisted teams.
When a tournament is fully booked, you can add yourself to the waitlist. If a team withdraws, the first team on the waitlist takes their spot. You will receive a notification and must confirm your participation in time.
Yes, you can withdraw at no cost until the registration deadline. After the deadline, penalties may apply depending on the organizer's rules. In case of injury or illness, contact the organizer directly.
Points & Rankings
At each tournament you earn points based on your final placement. The amount depends on the tournament level (Oro awards more points than Plata or Bronce), the number of participating teams, and the average strength of competitors. Tied placements split points equally.
The ranking reflects your skill level based on your tournament results. The best results from approximately the last 51 weeks are counted. The more frequently and successfully you compete, the better your ranking position.
Tours are series of tournaments organized under a common name and season (e.g. 'Beach Volleyball Women's Tour Buenos Aires 2026'). You accumulate points throughout the entire season. At the end, the tour champion is determined.
